"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." — Philippians 4:6
I have learned that prayer is not the preparation for the work. Prayer IS the work.
We treat prayer like the warm-up act. The thing we do before the real ministry starts. But I am convinced we have it backwards. The prayer closet is the battlefield. Everything else is just the victory parade.
Before I stood before those students, I knelt. Before the graduation honors, there were nights of tears. Before every open door, there was a closed door I prayed in front of until God opened it or showed me a window.
Paul writes 'be careful for nothing' from a prison cell. Let that sink in. He is in chains, and he is telling the free church not to worry. Because he discovered what I am still learning: anxiety is just prayer without direction. Worry is meditation on the wrong thing.
When you pray with thanksgiving, you are not ignoring your problems. You are just refusing to let them be bigger than your God.
I have prayed over students who were cutting themselves. I have prayed over girls who were pregnant and terrified. I have prayed over boys who were angry at fathers who left. And I have watched God do what no program, no policy, and no motivational speech could do.
He healed. He restored. He recommissioned.
Commissioning is what happens when prayer meets obedience. God does not just comfort you; He sends you. The same hands that were lifted in surrender get filled with purpose.
What are you anxious about today? Stop carrying it. Kneel with it. Pray with thanksgiving. Then get up and go, because heaven is commissioning you.
I am prayed for and sent.
You are prayed for and sent.
We are prayed for and sent.
